We are really excited about our next heritage even We are really excited about our next heritage event. Many experts have said we had an anchorite resident in our church and churchwardens have passed down stories of plague pits. This event will allow the public to be part of an archaeological investigation that uses equipment and observation to find out more about what lies beneath our floors. Bring along your finds to be identified too. And, it’s all FREE courtesy of @heritagefunduk

We are pleased to share with you the details of ou We are pleased to share with you the details of our Heritage events, talks and workshops for Spring/Summer 2023. Booking is now open for our events and workshops, for a booking form please email: stwilfridsbarrow@gmail.com.
On 3rd September last year we held a Tudor Banquet On 3rd September last year we held a Tudor Banquet which was attended by 50 guests.  We served authentic food, learnt some Tudor dances, were entertained by a lutenist and a harpist and singing compere.  An excellent evening!
In June we worked with 26 children from Sale and D In June we worked with 26 children from Sale and Davys School on a project called ‘Symbolism’. We looked at all the symbols around the inside of the church and in the graveyard and discussed what they meant.  Children did grave rubbings and drawings and then turned their designs into a clay tile which was fired.  We also made clay moulds to create a 3D plaster sculpture of their favourite symbols.
 Over 70 parents and carers came to see the exhibition of their work.
We had lots of workshops last year and planning mo We had lots of workshops last year and planning more for 2023.  One of them was illuminated calligraphy which included the application of real gold leaf.  The attendees had a wonderful time and took home a pack to complete other pieces of work.
Whilst we are busy planning our activities for 202 Whilst we are busy planning our activities for 2023 we wanted to take a look back at some of our highlights of 2022. 
Starting with this film made with year six pupils from Sale and Davys school in Summer last year. This video tells the story of the Sale family of Barrow and their attempts to remain Catholic during the reformation.  It also tells of an involvement in the Gunpowder Plot.

Tea and Chat returns for 2023, the next meet up is Tea and Chat returns for 2023, the next meet up is Wednesday 25th January at 2PM and it will continue on a fortnightly basis. Come along and meet old friends and make new ones.

We’ve been busy assembling all the angels with our volunteers ready to be hung up in the church. We can’t wait for you to see them on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December.
The physic garden emerges. Linked to our Knights The physic garden emerges.  Linked to our Knights Hospitaller heritage, we are creating a physic garden full of the herbs needed for tinctures, poultices and tissanes.
